The Department has a long history of providing exceptional patient care at the University of Michigan Hospital and at multiple community practice sites across the state of Michigan. Department faculty physicians have been providing care at this location for six years. The major criterion for appointment in the Clinical track is excellence in the overall mix of clinical care and clinical teaching.
The available position will be at one of our community practice sites in Grand Rapids, Michigan, a city ranked 16th in U.S. News and World Report best places to live. Grand Rapids is in western Michigan along the scenic Grand River. The second largest in the state, Grand Rapids is a thriving city with mid-west friendliness. The city boasts a variety of art, music and dining, along with four-season opportunities for outdoor recreation.

The clinical service provides external beam and HDR brachytherapy procedures with modern technologies in a community hospital setting. Technologies includes Cyberknife, Tomotherapy, TrueBeam, MOSAIQ RO Information System and Flexitron Afterloader. In addition to three University of Michigan Radiation Oncologists, the care team includes three physicists, three dosimetrists, nine radiation therapists, and three registered nurses. As part of a cancer center, patients have access to infusion, surgical and radiation services, and inpatient care, all within the same building.
Requirements
Eligible applicants will possess an M.D. and will have completed their residency in an ACGME-accredited program. Qualified applicants will be board eligible/certified in radiation oncology with a strong interest in clinical patient care and research. Applicants must be able to obtain the appropriate medical licenses for the state of Michigan.
We are particularly interested in candidates who have strong experience in clinical care and program building at an outpatient cancer center setting, and who will cover any anatomical site and have experience in brachytherapy. The successful candidate will work to expand the practice by facilitating referrals, initiating and participating in local tumor boards, and will participate in clinical research, including University of Michigan institutional and cooperative research protocols. In addition to participating in a general radiation oncology practice, the position will offer the opportunity to contribute to teaching radiation oncology residents. Previous record of publications in scientific journals, experience in clinical research and teaching is highly desirable.
The position may be filled at the Clinical Instructor, Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor level depending on qualifications.
