Position Summary
Under the supervision of an authorized user, the Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for the safe and effective use of radiopharmaceuticals and imaging technologies unique to nuclear medicine. This includes ionizing and non-ionizing radiation for diagnostic, therapeutic, theranostic, and research purposes. The technologist ensures patient safety, compliance with regulatory standards, and high-quality imaging outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties:
Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with safety protocols.
Review patient medical history to determine appropriate procedures and ensure readiness.
Provide clear instructions to patients before, during, and after procedures.
Monitor patient condition during imaging and initiate emergency first aid when necessary.
Operate molecular imaging equipment for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
Administrative & Leadership Duties
Supervise other technologists, students, and support personnel as assigned.
Assist in procurement of supplies and equipment and maintain accurate documentation of laboratory operations.
Participate in radiation safety programs and implement dose reduction strategies.
Support departmental inspections by licensing, regulatory, and accrediting agencies.
Contribute to quality assurance and improvement initiatives.
Assist with scheduling patient procedures and support clinical trial activities.
Requirements
Required Education: Satisfactory completion of a formal education program accredited by A.R.R.T or NMTCB.
Preferred Experience: Two (2) years of experience in Nuclear Medicine or PET/CT
Required Certifications and Licensures: Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with certificate of Nuclear Medicine Technology, or registered by the Nuclear Medicine Certification Board (CNMT). Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification from American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
