Position Summary: The Radiation Therapist at WMCC is responsible for administering therapeutic doses of ionizing radiation to patients in accordance with the prescription and instructions of the Radiation Oncologist and Medical Physicist.

- Maintains working knowledge of and adheres to all universal precautions and principles of radiation safety while following the code of ethics and practice standards set by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) and American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT).
- Accurately records all treatment data in patient’s electronic medical record.
- Regular and predictable attendance.
Working Conditions: Normal working conditions where there is no physical discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise and the like. Low risk of exposure to radiation. Possible exposure to blood borne pathogens and communicable diseases due to direct patient care in a wide variety of circumstances, including inpatients, pediatrics, and patients under anesthesia.
Requirements
Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience with associate’s degree. Comprehensive knowledge of radiation therapy acquired through accredited radiation therapy program required.
Required Knowledge and Skills: Current ARRT certification in radiation therapy or registry eligible (must obtain certification within 6 months). Minimum of 1-year clinical experience in a radiation therapy department. Previous experience in health care environment highly desirable. Must have or be able to obtain BLS certification. Excellent interpersonal skill to interact effectively with management, employees, peers and the general public. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Ability to use critical thinking to interpret, comprehend and complete complicated and detailed projects in a timely manner. Ability to organize, prioritize and work independently. High degree of integrity to keep confidential all information related to WMCC patients, employees, physicians, and institution related information. Ability to accept and apply feedback.
Physical Requirements: Ability to regularly complete a one and two person lift to assist patients and move equipment. Requires ability to stand for long periods. Manual dexterity required to use computer keyboard and other equipment. Excellent visual and auditory acuity necessary.
