Description
We are seeking a Board-Certified Medical Physicist to join our Radiation Oncology team as Chief of Physics. This is a key leadership opportunity to oversee clinical physics operations and help shape the future of cancer care within a highly integrated and collaborative healthcare system.
About the Radiation Oncology Program
- 9 Radiation Oncologists, 5 Physicists, 7 Dosimetrists, 19 Radiation Therapists
- 4 Varian TrueBeam linear accelerators (HDMLC & Millennium, 6DOF couches, ExacTrac Dynamic, surface systems)
- ARIA and Eclipse treatment planning systems; Brainlab Elements
- Active SRS, SBRT, and HDR brachytherapy programs
- Program expansion underway, including a 5th linac, orthovoltage unit (Xstrahl), and second CT simulator
Position Overview
The Chief of Physics will provide strategic and operational leadership for all clinical physics functions, working closely with physicians, dosimetrists, and therapists in a team-based environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee clinical physics operations, including QA and QC programs
- Supervise and mentor physics staff; collaborate with dosimetry on treatment planning
- Provide clinical expertise in advanced techniques including SRS, SBRT, VMAT, IMRT, IGRT, and HDR brachytherapy
- Guide equipment selection, commissioning, and lifecycle management
- Contribute to strategic planning and technology implementation locally and across the Kaiser Permanente system
Qualifications
- ABR Board Certification (or equivalent) in Therapeutic Medical Physics
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in Radiation Oncology
- Strong experience with Varian platforms (TrueBeam, ARIA, Eclipse) and Brainlab
- Experience with SRS/SBRT commissioning and HDR brachytherapy preferred
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and team-building skills
